As part of the I?WestLeeds Festival
2007 Elite Group Logistics sponsored the West Leeds
Cricket World Cup involving several West Leeds Primary
Schools at New Farnley Cricket Club on Monday 9 th
July 2007.
Sixteen teams took part this year from
Five Lanes, Whingate, Calverley CofE, Raynville, Farsley
Springbank, Swinnow, Valley View, Farsley Farfield,
Ryecroft, Cobden, St Bartholomew’s, Waterloo
and Castleton Primary Schools.
Each team represented a country from
the 2007 Cricket World Cup which took place in the
West Indies earlier in this year.
The teams were playing the final fixtures
of the group phase of the competition when the heavens
opened and washed out play for the day.
All participants received a t-shirt
in their country’s team colours and certificates
for taking part.
The West Leeds Cricket World Cup was organised by
Priesthorpe Sports College and Leeds City Council’s
Community Sport team. It is hoped that the competition
can be rearranged for a date in September when the
West Leeds World Cup Trophy will, at last, be presented
to the winning team.
